Everyday carry means the knife is in your pocket now, not in a drawer waiting for a camping trip. That changes what matters: it has to be light enough that you forget it, it has to open one-handed, and it has to look like something you can take out at a desk without anyone flinching. Everything here is hand-forged in our Memphis, Tennessee workshop.
How to pick a size
Most people over-buy on their first EDC knife and then stop carrying it. A three inch blade opens boxes, cuts cord, trims a loose thread and handles food. A four inch blade does the same jobs and rides heavier in a pocket. Under two and a half inches you start fighting the tool. If in doubt, three inches closed around four inches is the size people actually keep on them.
Handle material is the part you feel
The blade is what you look at, the handle is what you live with. Micarta and G10 grip when wet and take knocks without showing them. Rosewood, olive wood and buffalo horn are warmer in the hand and age with use. Brass and pearl are for a knife you want people to ask about. There is no wrong answer, only what you want to touch fifty times a day.
Why hand-forged Damascus for a pocket knife
Our billets are 1095 and 15N20 forge welded and hardened to 58 to 60 HRC. That gives an edge that takes a very fine polish and comes back quickly on a stone. It is carbon steel, so it develops a patina with use. Some people chase that, some people do not want it. If you do not, the D2 tool steel folders resist staining much better.
Questions people ask
Will it clip to a pocket? Many of these carry a steel pocket clip. Check the specification table on the individual product for the exact fitting.
How often will I sharpen it? With daily use, a strop once a week and a stone every month or two keeps a Damascus edge where you want it.
Is a heavier knife better? No. The best EDC knife is the one you did not leave at home. Weight is the most common reason a knife stops being carried.
Can it be engraved? Yes, in house before it ships.
