A knife does not have to be big to be serious. This collection is built around smaller handles, lighter blades and finer grinds — knives sized for a smaller hand that still cut like the rest of the shop, because a blade that is too heavy or too thick in the grip is simply harder to control, whoever is holding it.

What is different about them. Shorter blades, slimmer stock, narrower handles and a lower overall weight. Nothing is decorative at the expense of function: the same steels, the same heat treatment and the same hand sharpening as every other knife we make.

Materials. Pure white buffalo bone, hand-poured resin in pearl, abalone, rose, violet and black-and-gold, canvas Micarta, and natural olive and walnut. Every knife in this collection ships with a hand-stitched white leather sheath made for it.

FAQs

Are these knives only for women? No. They are sized for smaller hands and lighter carry, which suits a lot of people. Buy on grip size and blade length, not on the label.

What sizes are they? Overall lengths run from about 6 to 8 inches with blades between 2.75 and 3.75 inches. Each product page lists its own measurements — they are deliberately not all the same.

Is the white sheath practical? It is full-grain leather, hand stitched and moulded to each blade. Like any pale leather it will mark and mellow with handling; most owners find that improves it.

Is the buffalo bone ethically sourced? Yes — it is a by-product of the water buffalo meat industry, completely unrelated to ivory or to any protected species.

What is the resin? Hand-poured and cured resin, stabilised and machined in house. It is waterproof, will not crack or shrink, and every pour comes out with its own swirl and depth — no two handles are the same.

Which blade shape

The shapes in this collection are not decorative variations — each one cuts differently. If you are buying a first knife, this is the part worth two minutes.

Shape Point Best at Good first knife?
Drop point Lowered, strong General use, food prep, hunting — the all-rounder Yes, the safest pick
Spear point Centred, symmetrical Piercing and detail work; balanced in the hand Yes
Sheepsfoot Blunt, rounded Cutting on a board or against skin without a sharp tip Yes — the least likely to nick you
Straight back Flat spine, gentle tip Slicing with thumb pressure on the spine Yes
Spey point Upswept, no fine tip Skinning and long clean cuts without puncturing Only if you dress game
Neck knife Small, worn on a cord Always-there light carry As a second knife, not a first

As a gift

A good proportion of these leave the shop as gifts, which is worth planning for. Drop point is the shape nobody regrets. The white leather sheath and the resin handles — pearl, abalone, rose, violet, black-and-gold — are what make these photograph like a present rather than hardware. Engraving is available as a paid add-on if you want a name or a date on the blade. More ideas on our knife gifts page.
