Description
Dust Devil is the truck knife. Desert tan Micarta, a stonewashed grey D2 blade with no shine in it at all, black hardware and a lanyard hole — the whole thing is built to live on a dashboard, in a door pocket or on a belt, and to look no different after a year of it. Set against the caliche and creosote of a desert two-track it practically disappears, which is the idea.
The grind is a working cowboy bull cutter: a deep, square-nosed sheepsfoot with a full 3.5 inch straight edge, a blunt tip that will not dive when you cut against hide, rope or sacking, and a notched choil so you can choke right up to the blade.

Built for: ranch and stock work, overlanding and truck carry, hunting camp, cutting twine, hide and feed sacks, and hard everyday use in dust, sun and wet where a wood handle would rather not be.
Care: D2 is a semi-stainless tool steel — very rust resistant, but not rust proof. Wipe the blade dry after use and give it a light film of oil before long storage. The stonewashed finish needs nothing: new scratches blend straight into it. Canvas Micarta washes with soap and water. Check the handle screws are snug now and then, and do not store the knife inside the leather sheath long term.
FAQs
What is a stonewashed finish and why choose it?
The finished blade is tumbled with abrasive media, which leaves a soft grey surface with a fine random texture. It throws no glare, and marks from real use disappear into it instead of showing as bright scratches. On a knife you intend to actually beat up, it is the most forgiving finish there is.
How tough is canvas Micarta?
Extremely. Micarta is layered canvas set in resin: it will not swell, crack, warp or rot, it shrugs off blood, water, oil, fuel and solvents, and its fine texture grips better when wet. It is the handle to choose if the knife lives outdoors or in a vehicle.
Why screws instead of pins?
Bolted scales come off, so you can clean underneath the handle and put it back — worth having on a knife that sees dust, blood and feed. Just check the hardware occasionally.
Will my knife look exactly like the photograph?
Very close. Micarta is a manufactured material so the desert tan colour is consistent, though the pattern where the contours cut through the canvas layers differs slightly on every handle, and each stonewash tumbles a little differently.
Is the leather sheath included?
Yes. The handmade leather belt sheath with stud closure shown ships with the knife at no extra cost.
