Description
Oxblood Rider is the plain-spoken one. No polish, no shine, nothing to fuss over — a carbon steel sheepsfoot taken to a stonewashed matte grey, and a set of deep burgundy canvas Micarta scales that look better the more the day wears on them. Stonewashing does not just look right on a fence-line knife; it tumbles the surface so new scratches blend straight into the finish instead of standing out.
The blade is a full 3.5 inches of straight edge with the square, blunt bull cutter nose that lets you cut hard against hide, twine and sacking without a point going anywhere it should not, and a notched choil for choking up close.

Built for: fence work, livestock and stockyard chores, cutting wire ties, twine, hide and feed sacks, hunting camp and everyday belt carry. This is the bull cutter to buy if you intend to use it hard and do not want to worry about it.
Care: High carbon steel is not stainless. Wipe the blade dry after every use and keep a light film of mineral or camellia oil on it, especially if you work around blood or damp feed. A stonewashed finish will develop a grey patina with time — that is normal and it protects the steel. Canvas Micarta needs nothing more than soap and water. Do not store the knife inside the leather sheath long term.
FAQs
What is a stonewashed finish?
The finished blade is tumbled with abrasive media, which leaves a soft, low-glare grey surface with a fine random texture. Two practical benefits: it does not flash in sunlight, and fresh scratches from real work blend into it instead of showing as bright lines.
Carbon steel or stainless — which should I choose?
Carbon steel takes a keener edge and is far easier to touch up in the field with a simple stone, which is why working knives have used it for centuries. The trade-off is rust: it needs to be wiped dry and lightly oiled. If the knife will live in a wet environment and get neglected, choose one of our D2 or stainless models instead.
Will my knife look exactly like the photograph?
Very close. Canvas Micarta is a manufactured material so the burgundy colour and weave are consistent, and each mosaic pin is cut from a hand-made rod, so the little pattern in the pin face varies slightly from knife to knife.
Is the leather sheath included?
Yes. The handmade leather belt sheath with brass snaps shown in the photograph ships with the knife at no extra cost.
How is the grip when wet?
Excellent. Canvas Micarta has a fine woven texture that actually becomes grippier with water, oil or blood on it — one of the reasons it is the standard handle material for hard-use knives.
