Description
Sage Outrider puts a green canvas Micarta handle on the bull cutter pattern. Seven and a half inches overall, three and a half inch sheepsfoot blade with a notched choil, in D2 tool steel finished to a hand-rubbed matte satin — applied by hand in one direction rather than buffed, so it has grain to it.
The scales are olive green canvas Micarta over black fiber liners, with two mosaic pins set into the flat and a solid brass butt bolster at the rear carrying the lanyard hole. The sheath is hand-tooled leather, stamped rather than plain.

Who it’s built for: the person who is actually going to use it and would rather it did not look precious. Green Micarta hides dirt, the satin finish hides scratches, and the brass at the back is the only bright thing on the knife.
Canvas Micarta when your hands are wet
Micarta is layered fabric set in resin, then cut and shaped. Canvas Micarta specifically — as opposed to linen or paper — has a coarse weave, and when you grind and finish it the cut ends of that weave stand slightly proud of the resin. The result is a surface with real tooth. It does not turn slick when wet, bloody or greasy — the condition a ranch knife lives in.
Brass at the back, not the front
Rather than putting metal at the front where it adds weight ahead of the hand, this one carries a solid brass bolster at the butt. It caps the end of the handle, protects it if you set the knife down hard, pulls the balance point back toward your palm, and it is where the lanyard hole is drilled. A tooled sheath, not a plain one
The leather here is hand-tooled: the pattern is stamped into damp hide with punches and left to set, so it is cut into the leather rather than printed on it. Tooling deepens in color as the sheath is handled instead of rubbing off.
Day one onward: wipe the blade dry after use and keep a light oil on it — D2 is corrosion resistant, not corrosion proof. The Micarta needs nothing at all; soap and water is fine. Feed the leather sheath with a little conditioner once a year and store the knife outside it.
