We do not build knives to win prizes. We build them one at a time, by hand, in Memphis. The prizes just kept showing up anyway — handed over by judges, guilds and blacksmiths who have seen everything and are extremely hard to impress.
Four wins. Five trophies. Zero shortcuts.
Every one of these came off the same benches, the same hammers and the same pair of hands that make the knife you order today.
Double win: Knives of the Year
Walking away from Blade Show with one Knife of the Year is a career moment. We walked away with two. In the same year. From the same shop.
The judging panel does not hand these out for a pretty photo. They pick the blade up, they feel the balance, they look for the tiny things — grind lines that do not wander, a handle that sits right, fit and finish that holds up under a loupe. Two of ours passed that test on the same afternoon.
That is the bar we have been chasing ever since.
Honored for the Bowie
This one means something different. It did not come from a crowd or a popular vote — it came from the smiths. The people who stand in front of a forge for a living and know exactly how a bad weld hides.
They gave it to our Bowie. Big, honest, heavy in the hand, built the old way because the old way still works.
Recognition from your own trade is the hardest kind to earn and the best kind to get.
2019 Blade Show Innovation Award
Innovation in this trade is not a gimmick bolted onto a blade. It is a new pattern nobody had pulled off before. A handle material that should not work and somehow does. A shape that finally solves a problem people had quietly put up with for years.
That is the category we won in, and it is still the part of the job we enjoy most: showing up with something the shelf has not seen yet.
Most Innovative New Knife of 2020
This one was voted. Which means it came from collectors, makers and people who actually carry the things — not a panel behind a table.
Getting picked by the room is a different flavour of good. It says the design landed with the people it was built for.

Anyone can call their own work world class. These came from Blade Show panels, the Knifemaker's Guild and the American Blacksmith Society.
