The Ultra Line is the flagship bowie series at Black Mamba Knives – oversized fixed blades for people who want a bowie that looks as serious as it cuts. Every knife in the line starts as a billet of high-carbon Damascus folded to 200 or more layers, forged to a deep clip point with a sharpened swedge, then finished so the pattern reads clearly across the whole blade. Overall lengths run from 12 to 18 inches, with full tangs, brass or nickel-silver guards and pommels, and handle scales in stag antler, buffalo horn, rosewood, camel bone and coloured resin.
What separates the Ultra Line from a standard bowie. Thicker stock, longer blades, and far more hand time in the guard and pommel fit-up. These are display-grade knives that are still heat treated to 58-60 HRC and ground to cut.
What is a bowie knife best for? Camp and field work – batoning, clearing, dressing large game – and historically as a fighting knife. The clip point gives you a fine tip for detail work behind a heavy belly for chopping.
How should I care for a Damascus bowie? Wipe the blade dry after use, apply a light coat of mineral or gun oil, and store it out of the sheath for long periods so trapped moisture does not etch the steel.
Is a sheath included? Yes – each Ultra Line bowie ships in a hand-tooled leather sheath cut and stitched for that specific blade, with a certificate of authenticity.
