Stag antler is the reason this one sells. It is the oldest handle material in the trade and it still does something no synthetic manages: it warms to your hand in seconds and it grips harder when it is wet. The Queen Snake pairs it with a folding Damascus blade and hand-cut brass file-work, at eight and a half inches open.

Carry it for: the days you want a knife that looks like it came from somewhere. This is a pocket knife you hand across a table, not one you lose in a tackle box. It is forged rather than stamped, it opens smoothly, and because every antler came off a different animal, it will not look like the one in the photograph.
Stag antler: what you are actually buying
Antler is shed naturally and cut into scales, so the bark, the pearling and the color are set by the deer rather than by us. Expect tone anywhere from pale bone to deep amber, and expect the ridges to sit differently under your fingers on each piece. Antler is dense and hard-wearing. It darkens over years of handling, which is generally considered an improvement. It can also develop fine surface cracks if you leave it somewhere hot and dry, like a car dashboard in July. Keep it out of direct sun and it will outlast you.
Eight and a half inches open is a big folder
The handle alone measures five inches, which means a full grip with room to spare. That is rare in a pocket knife, and it keeps the grip comfortable through long cuts. The trade-off is bulk. It rides better in a jacket pocket or a bag than in the front pocket of slim jeans. If you want something that disappears, a seven-inch clip-carry folder is the closer fit.
Looking after it: antler and high-carbon steel want opposite things, so treat them separately. The blade must go into the fold dry. Wipe it, then open and close the knife a few times to shake water out of the pivot. A drop of light oil at the pivot every few weeks keeps the action smooth and keeps corrosion out of the joint. The antler wants nothing but handling, so skip the wood oils, which soak in unevenly and blotch it. Never leave the knife inside the leather for storage. How long is the blade? Our table for this model gives overall length and handle length but no separate blade figure, and we would rather leave it blank than publish a number we have not measured on this run. Message us if you need it exact.
Will mine match the photograph? The blade pattern and the antler will both differ. That is the nature of forged steel and shed antler. If uniformity matters more to you than character, choose a resin handle instead.
Does antler get slippery? Less than wood and far less than polished steel. The natural texture is the grip.

Ok, so this one’s going to sound ridiculous. Because I just rated the previous knife as the most beautiful knife. Knife arrived with a very nice raindrop Damascus pattern, quite stunning. Appears to be very solidly built. Not a huge fan of having a clip on the side, so I’ll probably remove that. Might be nice to offer a version without the clip. Sheathe was originally very stiff, but after a while was able to get the knife in it and close the snap. Overall, very happy with the purchase.
