Who buys this: collectors, and people marking something. At this size and this price it is not a knife anyone carries. It is a knife that goes on a wall or in a case, comes down for guests, and gets handled more than it gets used.
The honest truth about an eleven inch bowie
A blade this long has real reach and real chopping authority, and almost no delicacy. You cannot cape an animal with it, you cannot use it in a kitchen, and it will not go anywhere in public without attention you probably do not want. The fuller down the flank removes weight and adds stiffness, which is the only reason it is swingable at all. Anyone weighing a big fixed blade against a smaller edged tool should read what separates a knife from a dagger first.
Twenty-two point nine ounces
The spec table lists 22.9 oz. That is well over a pound, and it lands where you point it. Hold it for two minutes and your forearm will tell you about it. That mass is why the knife feels serious rather than theatrical, and it is also why the sheath needs a belt that can take it. If chopping is what you actually want, a hand forged high carbon hatchet does that work far better for a fraction of the outlay.
Burned stag, and what happens to it
Scorching antler drives the color deep into the porous outer layer and hardens the surface. The amber and near-black contrast you see is heat, not dye, so it will not lift or flake. It does keep moving slowly for years, generally getting richer. Antler shrinks fractionally in very dry air; if the pins ever stand slightly proud in a heated winter house, that is why, and it settles back.
Long-term care: a knife that lives on display rusts from fingerprints, not from work. Wipe the flats with a soft cloth after anyone handles it, and give it a light oiling twice a year. Do not store it in the leather sheath. Our page on what a real Damascus knife costs explains where the hours in a piece like this actually go.
FAQs
Is it sharpened? Yes. It arrives with a working edge, not a display dummy edge.
Can it be wall mounted? There are no mounting holes. Most owners use a standard blade stand or a sheath hanger.
Why is the listed weight different from the title? The specification table above is the figure we stand behind. The title text is older and we are correcting it.

Received the first Red Dragon Slayer- it’s hard to describe the quality and finish of this one. Mark has created a masterpiece with this knife. He has taken Damascus steel to the next level. The Damascus guard is integrated into the blade like nothing I have ever seen. The stag handle is a work of art and makes this creation very colorful with the Damascus. The shape of the blade makes the knife look incredible. I mentioned to Mark that I had been collecting knives since 1976 and this one makes number 1000. It is a fantastic work of art to help me cerebrates this milestone. You have to order this one- it will not disappoint!

I received the “Dragon Slayer Bowie” today and words could not express how I felt when I opened the package. The smile on my face was ear to ear. Box was nicely packaged and shipping only took 2 days for delivery. Mark was great to work with and did a remarkable job on this knife. From end to end the fit & finish of this bowie is outstanding! Although a big knife, it feels really comfortable and well balanced in the hand. I highly recommend this seller!

***Updated review***
As soon as i left my 1 star review, Mark called me directly. This is why it was so hard for me to leave a negative review in the first place. They are really on top of everything here. I want to update this review, that the reason i didn’t get my issue fixed is due to miscommunication. Mark wanted me to send the knife back so he could replace it. I thought i’m waiting on him to make the knife, call me, then send it back. Mark is very understanding and is right back on it to replace the knife. I’ll update again, but i have confidence that Mark will address the issue and get it resolved. I will update this again if it doesn’t happen but i’m sure this will be resolved.
