Made for: hunters who work in wet weather and want one knife to carry all season. Five inches of blade gives you enough belly to open and skin a deer, and enough point control for the fiddly work around joints. At seven ounces it has authority behind a cut without dragging on your belt by the end of the day.
Why stainless earns its place in the field
Field dressing is wet, warm work. Blood, rain and river water are what pit a blade fastest, and stainless simply does not care about any of them. You will still dry the knife, but you do it out of habit rather than out of fear. Leave it in a pack overnight after a long walk out and nothing bad has happened by morning. Hardness and the way the edge acts
Oil tempered to 58 to 60 HRC, the blade lands in the useful middle. It will take an animal apart without needing a touch up halfway through, and it will still come back on a stone in a few minutes rather than an evening. Push a knife harder than this and it starts chipping when the point finds bone.
Care
Warm water, a drop of dish soap, dry with a towel, done. There is no oiling schedule to keep and no patina to manage. The one habit worth forming is storing the knife outside its leather sheath, because tanned leather holds damp against steel for days, and that is about the only way a blade like this gets into trouble. Before a long spell in a drawer, a light wipe of oil on the edge is cheap insurance.
Questions buyers ask
Will the edge last as long as a carbon blade? Slightly less, and most hunters happily take that trade for a knife that survives neglect.
How is this different from your pattern welded pieces? Purpose. Something like a Damascus Ultra Line bowie is built to be looked at and looked after. This one is built to be used and rinsed.
Does the sheath come with it? Yes. Hand stitched leather, cut for this knife rather than pulled off a shelf.
