Description
Turquoise Dawn puts one band of turquoise where the blade meets the handle and leaves everything else white — pure white buffalo bone scales, rose copper pins, and a white sheath stitched in the same turquoise thread. It is a single colour used once, which is why it works.
The blade is a hand-forged Damascus drop point with a fine wavy etch. Buffalo bone is dense, warm in the hand and slightly grippier than polished horn, which suits a small knife.

Built for: everyday carry, camp and kitchen work, and gifting. The southwestern turquoise-and-white pairing makes it one of the most photographed knives we build.
Care: Damascus is a high-carbon steel and will spot or patina if it is put away wet. Wipe the blade dry after every use and keep a light film of mineral or camellia oil on it, which also keeps the etched pattern crisp. Buffalo bone is a natural material: keep it out of prolonged direct sun and standing water, wipe it clean rather than soaking it, and it will warm to a deeper cream with handling. The turquoise spacer is stone: avoid knocks against hard edges and do not soak it. Keep the white leather sheath out of prolonged wet and do not store the knife inside it for long periods.
FAQs
Is this knife only for women?
No. It is built on a smaller handle with a lighter, thinner blade, which suits smaller hands and lighter carry — a lot of people prefer that regardless. Buy it on grip size and blade length rather than on the label.
Is the white leather sheath practical?
Yes. It is full-grain leather, hand stitched and moulded to this blade. Like any pale leather it will mark and mellow with handling; most owners think that improves it. Keep it out of prolonged wet and it will last for years.
Is the blade full size and full strength?
Yes. Smaller does not mean lighter duty — same steel, same heat treatment, same hand sharpening as every other knife we make. It is a small knife, not a toy.
Can I actually use a Damascus knife?
Yes. The pattern comes from forge-welding different steels together; the finished blade is hardened, ground and sharpened like any other. It simply asks to be kept dry and lightly oiled.
Is the buffalo bone ethical? Is it related to ivory?
It is entirely ethical and entirely unrelated to ivory. Buffalo bone is a by-product of the water buffalo meat industry, from animals that were not raised or taken for their bone, and it involves no protected or endangered species whatsoever.
Will my knife look exactly like the photograph?
No. Bone is natural, so the exact tone and the fine grain differ on every set of scales, and every Damascus billet etches into a different pattern.
