Every day, for: the small cutting that fills an ordinary week. Boxes, tape, cable ties, blister packs, a length of twine, an apple at your desk. It opens with one hand, it locks, it sits flat enough to forget in a front pocket, and at five ounces it is heavy enough to feel like a tool without being heavy enough to notice.
Why this size keeps winning
Three inches is the length that clears most legal thresholds in the United States while still being long enough to cut something that matters. Go shorter and you lose the ability to break down a box in one stroke. Go longer and you start having to think about where you are before you pull it out. The four-inch handle is the other half of it: your whole hand fits, so the knife does not twist when you put force into a cut. Plenty of folders get one of these two right. This gets both. Before you carry it anywhere unfamiliar, check the state-by-state pocket knife laws, because carry rules differ from ownership rules.
Keeping a Damascus edge keen
At 58 to 60 HRC this steel takes a very fine edge and gives it back reasonably slowly. The mistake people make is waiting until a knife is blunt before touching it. Strop the blade on leather for thirty seconds once a week and you may never need a stone. When you do need one, work a shallow angle and take your time; the alternating bands of 1095 and 15N20 abrade at slightly different rates, so a rushed job leaves a wavy edge. Pull-through sharpeners tear at pattern-welded steel and should be avoided entirely. The sharpening guide walks through the angles.
Where the patina comes from
This blade is carbon steel, and in a pocket it meets sweat every day. Within a few months the flats will start to gray. That is a stable oxide layer, it is normal, and it makes the pattern more legible rather than less. What you want to avoid is orange rust in the pivot, which comes from folding the knife away wet. Wipe the blade and let it stand open for a minute before you close it.
Things buyers ask
Is the brass file-work sharp? No. The spine cuts are filed smooth and finished by hand.
How thick is it in the pocket? It is a full-size folder, not a slim gentleman’s knife. If you want thinner, the Fallen three-inch Damascus folder is the leaner option.
Can I add engraving? Yes, at checkout, before payment.

I’ll start this off by saying I HATE to do reviews, and I rarely do. I don’t feel that stuff on Amazon deserves a participation trophy, but this knife was deserving of my time. I have a Kershaw flipper speed assist opening knife, that I carried around with me as my EDC when I read an article that said they may not be legal to carry where I live – or at least it could be problematic depending on which law enforcement officer you get. We can go back and forth about legal possibilities, but let’s just say that for me it just wasn’t worth the hassle. So I had my checklist of what the new knife could or couldn’t be. I searched and searched – I bought and returned other knives that I wasn’t happy with, and I searched some more. Until I found this one.
This knife is amazing. It’s the perfect weight, and fits in my back pocket without me having to worry about my pants falling down – but it still has enough heft for you to know that you’re carrying a good tool. It’s the right profile and fits in my hand just right for a small knife. The blade is SHARP – right out of the box sharper than ANY other knife I have owned. Beyond that it’s just a work of art. I would be just as happy setting it in a display case for me and my friends to admire instead of having it in my pocket. I love the layers and how everything compliments each other. It truly is a work of art that you will be happy owning for many years.

I like the website. This is my first purchase. I feel like the image of the knife I purchased was different than the image on the website. The handle in the website image is narrow and tapered, while the handle I received is wide and blocky. I can easily reshape the handles myself, but I expected more for the price point of $100.
