Description
Copper Crescent is the dress karambit. The D2 hawkbill is taken all the way to a high mirror polish so the whole curve reads as one bright line, and the handle is figured rosewood in deep copper red, pinned in brass. It is the traditional shape with none of the tactical black on it.
The geometry is unchanged from the working models: an inward-facing edge that hooks material into the cut, and an integral finger ring that keeps the knife in your hand no matter how wet it gets.

Built for: everyday carry, utility cutting, collectors, and gifting. Rosewood and mirror steel photograph beautifully and look right in a display case.
Care: D2 is a semi-stainless tool steel — highly rust resistant but not rust proof. Wipe the blade dry after use and oil it lightly before long storage. A mirror polish shows fingerprints and water spots more than a satin finish — a soft cloth keeps it bright. Wipe the wood clean with a damp cloth and rub in a little wood wax or oil two or three times a year so it does not dry out. The brass pins will darken slightly with age. Do not store the knife inside the leather sheath for long periods.
FAQs
What is a karambit knife used for?
It started as a farming tool in Southeast Asia — the curved blade follows the shape of a tiger claw and was used for cutting roots, twine and rope. Today it is carried as a utility and self-defence knife: the hook shape pulls material into the edge instead of pushing it away, so it cuts rope, cord, webbing, boxes and hide with very little force.
What is the finger ring for?
Retention. Your index finger goes through the ring, so the knife cannot be pulled or knocked out of your hand even with wet or gloved hands, and you can let go of the grip entirely without dropping it. It also lets you switch between forward and reverse grip in one movement.
Is the leather sheath included?
Yes. The dark brown leather sheath with a brass stud shown in the photograph is moulded to this blade. It ships with the knife at no extra cost.
Is a karambit legal to carry?
It is treated as an ordinary fixed blade in most places, but blade-length and carry rules vary widely by state and country, and a few jurisdictions restrict curved or ring-handled knives specifically. Check your local law before carrying it.
How good is D2 for an everyday knife?
Very good. D2 runs around 58–60 HRC and holds a working edge far longer than the stainless most utility knives use. It is semi-stainless rather than fully stainless, so keep it dry.
Is rosewood a good handle material?
Excellent. Rosewood is dense and naturally oily, so it is stable, hard wearing and resists moisture better than most timbers, and it takes a deep natural polish without any coating. Every handle has its own grain and colour.
