Description
Onyx Fang is the top of the karambit line. The Damascus is etched in a tight raindrop pattern that runs the full curve of the blade — and, unusually, straight through the finger ring as well, which most makers leave plain because it is far harder to forge. The handle is polished buffalo horn in gloss black, pinned in brass with brass spacers at each end.
Every part of it is still functional. The inward-facing hawkbill edge hooks material into the cut and the ring gives absolute retention. It simply happens to be the best-looking knife on this page.

Built for: collectors, display, and gifting — retirement, anniversary and milestone presents. Fully usable, though most owners keep this one out of the mud.
Care: Damascus is a high-carbon steel and will spot or patina if it is put away wet. Wipe the blade dry after every use and keep a light film of mineral or camellia oil on it, which also keeps the etched pattern crisp. Buffalo horn is a natural material: keep it out of prolonged direct sun and standing water, wipe it rather than soaking it, and work a little mineral oil into it once or twice a year. The brass will darken to a warm patina; polish it if you prefer it bright. Do not store the knife inside the leather sheath for long periods.
FAQs
What is a karambit knife used for?
It started as a farming tool in Southeast Asia — the curved blade follows the shape of a tiger claw and was used for cutting roots, twine and rope. Today it is carried as a utility and self-defence knife: the hook shape pulls material into the edge instead of pushing it away, so it cuts rope, cord, webbing, boxes and hide with very little force.
What is the finger ring for?
Retention. Your index finger goes through the ring, so the knife cannot be pulled or knocked out of your hand even with wet or gloved hands, and you can let go of the grip entirely without dropping it. It also lets you switch between forward and reverse grip in one movement.
Is the leather sheath included?
Yes. The black leather sheath with contrast stitching shown in the photograph is moulded to this blade. It ships with the knife at no extra cost.
Is a karambit legal to carry?
It is treated as an ordinary fixed blade in most places, but blade-length and carry rules vary widely by state and country, and a few jurisdictions restrict curved or ring-handled knives specifically. Check your local law before carrying it.
Can I actually use a Damascus knife, or is it for show?
Use it. The pattern comes from forge-welding different steels together; the finished blade is hardened, ground and sharpened like any other working knife. It simply asks to be kept dry and lightly oiled.
Will my knife look exactly like the photograph?
No. Every Damascus billet is folded and etched by hand, so the pattern is different on every blade. Your knife will share the shape, dimensions and build shown, but the steel will be its own.
Is the buffalo horn ethically sourced?
Yes. It is a by-product of the water buffalo meat industry and is completely unrelated to ivory or to any protected species.
Why is a Damascus finger ring unusual?
The ring has to be forged and welded as part of the same billet and then shaped without tearing the layers. Most ring-handled knives use a plain steel ring for that reason. Carrying the pattern through the ring is the detail that makes this one a collector piece.
