Description
The Crocodile opens to six and a quarter inches, carries a three-inch blade and weighs two ounces all in. It is the lightest folder we make at this size, and the pattern in the steel is a combination you rarely see on one blade: feather, raindrop and ladder worked into the same billet.

Pocket duty: keys, phone, wallet, knife, and you will not feel the fourth one. Two ounces is roughly the weight of a AA battery. This is a knife for letters, packaging, garden twine, fruit and the small daily cuts that make you glad you carry something. It is not a defensive tool and it is not a survival knife.
Three patterns in one bar
Feather comes from splitting a billet down the middle and folding it open so the layers mirror around a central spine. Raindrop is drilled and ground flat. Ladder is cut in transverse grooves. Getting all three onto a three-inch blade means working at a scale where one misjudged grind erases the effect, and it is why this blade looks busier than a standard twist. What two ounces costs you
Light knives are pleasant to carry and less pleasant to use hard. There is no mass to help you through a cut, so pushing through corrugated cardboard or thick rope is all forearm. The slim handle also gives you less to hold, which is fine for short jobs and tiring across an afternoon. If you want the same three-inch blade with something substantial in your palm, the six-ounce Indian Red Scorpion is three times the weight in a similar footprint.
What it needs from you: very little, but consistently. Dry the blade before it folds shut. Water sitting inside a closed folder is the most common way these knives get ruined, and you will not see the damage until you open it a week later. Flush the pivot with warm water if it gets gritty, dry it thoroughly, then add one drop of light oil and work the action. A thin wipe of oil on the flats each month is enough for the steel. Do not store it in the leather.

Is it legal to carry? A three-inch folding blade sits within the limit across most of the United States, but rules are set locally and they change. Check pocket knife laws by state before carrying it anywhere unfamiliar.
Can it be sharpened at home? Easily. Carbon steel at this hardness responds well to a basic double-sided waterstone. You do not need diamond plates.
