Who it suits: someone who wants a clean, plain blade with nothing to catch the light except the finish itself, on a handle that will not corrode, will not swell, and weighs almost nothing for its size. The blue in the scales is not paint. It is an oxide layer grown on the titanium by heat, so it cannot chip off.
Why titanium for the handle
Titanium is roughly 40 percent lighter than steel at similar strength, and it does not rust, which means a wet pocket or a day on the water is a non-event. It is also warm to hold in cold weather in a way that steel is not. The anodized color runs through the oxide layer, so scratches show as bare metal rather than as flaking finish.
Four inches of edge in a folder
A 4 inch blade is at the top of what most people will carry daily and at the bottom of what a serious field knife needs. It is enough to break down a box, process a meal, or dress small game, without the awkwardness of a fixed blade on your belt. Closed, the 5 inch handle sits flat rather than bulging.
The finish
The blade is taken to a high polish rather than left with a working satin. A polished surface has less to grab, so it releases cleanly from what you are cutting, and it shows fingerprints immediately. Both of those are true and neither is a fault.
Living with a polished blade
Two things follow from the finish. Fingerprints show up the moment you touch it, and fine scratches from ordinary use collect into a dull haze on the flats over the years. Neither affects how it cuts. If you want it bright again, a metal polish and a cloth will bring it back in ten minutes.
Weight
The specification does not list a weight for this model. Titanium scales keep it well under what a brass-bolstered folder of the same size would carry.
Care: the routine here is mechanical, not chemical. Wipe the blade dry before you fold it, so nothing sits at the pivot. Flush the pivot with warm water if it gets gritty, dry it, and put one drop of light oil on the joint. Do not store it inside the leather sheath for months at a time. Will the blue rub off the handle? No. Anodizing is a grown oxide layer, not a coating.
