Put it to work on: heavy strapping, carpet, plastic sheet, and anything where you drive the point through first and cut second. It is the most utilitarian folder in this group.
The tanto argument
A tanto splits the edge into two straight sections meeting at a hard corner. That corner is enormously strong and it takes an edge that stays put under abuse. The price is real: there is no belly at all, so the knife cannot make a rolling cut, and skinning or food prep with it is genuinely awkward. It is also harder to sharpen, because you have to hold two separate angles and keep the corner crisp. The red wood
The specification table calls it paddock wood; the trade usually spells it padauk. Whichever name you use, it is the open-grained African hardwood that starts bright orange-red and oxidizes toward a deeper brick color over a year or two. Nothing stops that and it should not be treated as damage. Sealed and waxed, it is stable, hard, and one of the better-wearing handle woods.
Six ounces, and what that buys
Heaviest folder in this selection. That mass is in the liners and bolsters, and it is why the knife takes hard use without developing side-to-side play. It is also why some people carry it for a week and go back to something lighter. Try it in the pocket you actually wear before you decide either way. Between jobs: the tanto corner is the first place to dull and the first place to rust, because it is what you drive into things. Check it, strop it, oil it. Carbon-based layered steel at this hardness stains fast on adhesive and on damp cardboard. Wipe the blade down before you fold it away, not after. Is the title right about snake wood? No. The handle is the wood named in the table, and the title text is being corrected.
Can I sharpen the tanto on a pull-through? No. You will round the corner off. Use a flat stone.
Does it have a lanyard hole? No lanyard hole on this model. It carries on the clip.
