Intended use: package work, cordage, strapping, and anything where a strong tip matters more than a delicate one. Warehouse and workshop pockets, mostly, where a knife earns its place by not failing rather than by looking good.

Why the tip looks like that

The angled tip puts a lot of steel immediately behind the point. That makes it far harder to break than a needle point and much better at punching through a taped seam or a plastic strap. What it costs you is the last fraction of precision. You cannot pick a splinter out with this, and it does not slice a tomato well because there is no continuous curve. Our steel comparison page is worth a look if you are weighing this against a stainless work knife.

The scales you can see

Our specification table names no handle material here, so what follows is description rather than a claim: deep black, highly polished, with a faint amber translucency showing at the edges under strong light. It is smooth. In a wet or gloved hand it is slick, and if your work involves either, look for a textured handle instead. Kept clean it is one of the easiest surfaces in the catalog to look after. Soap and a cloth is the whole procedure, and there is no grain to trap anything.

Four and a half ounces

Light enough for genuine all-day carry. The mass is concentrated at the bolsters, so closed it sits flat and does not roll in a pocket. Opened, the balance settles near the pivot, which suits a controlled push cut and works against any kind of swing. The Golden Koi brass-handled folder is the same idea taken in an entirely decorative direction.

Maintenance: adhesive is this knife’s real enemy. Tape residue builds on the flat, holds moisture against the steel, and starts rust under a layer you cannot see. Take it off with isopropyl alcohol, not a blade scraper, then re-oil immediately because alcohol strips every trace of protection. If orange spotting has already started, our page on removing rust from a knife covers doing it without scouring the etched pattern away.

FAQs

Can I open it one-handed? Yes, there is a thumb stud on the blade.

Does the pocket clip come off? It unscrews with a small driver, and the knife carries perfectly well loose in a pocket without it.

Is the tip strong enough to pry with? Stronger than most, but no folding knife should be pried with. The pivot fails before the tip does.
