Description
Anvil Song keeps the hammer on the blade. The whole upper flat of this high carbon bull cutter is worked with a hammer-stamped forge texture — a dense field of peen marks under a dark forge finish — and only the bevel is drawn down bright and keen. The handle is plain oak on two stainless pins with a lanyard hole. It is the least decorated knife we make and, to a lot of people, the best looking.
The grind is the classic cowboy bull cutter: a deep, square-nosed sheepsfoot with a full straight edge, a blunt tip that will not dive when you cut against hide, rope or sacking, and a notched choil so you can choke right up to the blade.

Built for: ranch and stock work, butchering and trimming, barn and camp chores, cutting twine, hide and feed sacks, and everyday belt carry. The hammered face and oak also make it a natural gift for a blacksmith, farrier or anyone who works with their hands.
Care: High carbon steel is not stainless and will rust if it is put away wet. Wipe the blade dry after every use and keep a light film of mineral or camellia oil on it — the bright bevel needs this most. The dark hammered surface is a protective oxide layer, so leave it be. Wipe the oak clean and rub in a little wood wax two or three times a year. Never put this knife in a dishwasher, and do not store it inside the leather sheath long term.
FAQs
Is the hammer texture just decoration?
It is both. The peen marks are left from working the steel and they are what give the blade its face, but the texture also breaks the suction of wet material against the flat — the same reason dimples appear on kitchen knives — and it hides marks from real use.
Why high carbon steel?
It takes a keener edge than stainless and it is far easier to touch up in the field on a simple stone. The trade-off is rust: keep it dry and lightly oiled and it will outlive you.
Will my knife look exactly like the photograph?
No. Oak is a natural wood with its own grain and colour, and every blade is hammered by hand, so the texture falls differently on each one. Your Anvil Song will share the shape, dimensions and build shown, but the face of the blade will be its own.
Can I use it in the kitchen?
Yes — the flat, full-length sheepsfoot edge is very good for slicing and trimming. Wash and dry it by hand straight after use, since the steel is high carbon.
Is the leather sheath included?
Yes. The handmade leather belt sheath shown ships with the knife at no extra cost.
