Description

Dusty pink is not a color you find on a serious pocket knife, and that is exactly why we ground one. The Rosewater pairs a muted rose canvas Micarta with blacked-out hardware and a stonewashed drop point, and the result reads as considered rather than novelty. It is a working folder that happens to be beautiful, not a beautiful object that struggles to work.

Micarta that gets better

The scales are canvas laminate: layers of woven cloth saturated in resin and cured under pressure. Ground flat and sanded, the weave shows through as a fine crosshatch you can feel with a thumb. That texture is the point. Micarta grips harder as your hands get damp, which is the reverse of polished materials, and unlike wood it will not move with humidity or split at a pin. The dye runs through the block, so a scuff exposes the same color underneath. Years of handling will darken it slightly and smooth the high points, and it will look better for it.

Drop point geometry

Just under three inches, with the spine falling in a smooth curve to a centered tip and a generous belly behind it. This is the most broadly useful blade shape there is, which is why it dominates in the field: enough point for detail work, enough curve to slice, and enough steel behind the tip that it does not fold if you pry a lid.

The 14C28N stainless underneath takes a screaming edge and holds it through ordinary carry, and it tolerates neglect better than any tool steel. The stonewash tumbles the surface into thousands of small marks so that scuffs from real use vanish into the finish rather than announcing themselves.

Hardware and lock

Black oxide pivot and body screws, a black oxide steel clip set for tip-up carry, steel liners, and phosphor bronze washers riding on both sides of the pivot. The liner lock engages with a solid click and releases with a thumb. Everything is screwed, so it comes apart for cleaning.

Dimensions

Open, the knife measures a fraction over seven inches; closed it is a shade over four, and the slim frame means it disappears in a front pocket rather than tenting the fabric. It is small enough for a jacket, a handbag or an apron, and substantial enough that it does not feel like a keyring novelty when you actually put it to work.

Built in Memphis

Every stage happens in our Tennessee shop, and the white leather slip pouch that comes with it is cut and hand-stitched here too.

Keeping it in shape

Wipe the blade, keep grit out of the pivot, and put a drop of light machine oil where the tang meets the washers every month or two. Micarta wants nothing beyond soap and water. When the edge softens, a ceramic rod will restore it long before you need a stone; the difference between the two operations is explained in our note on honing versus sharpening. If the knife is going into a drawer for a season, store it dry and unclipped, following the storage advice we give for every blade we sell. The same frame in ivory Micarta with a wharncliffe blade is the Linen Frost.

Got this as a hunting trip and it exceeded what I expected. Lockup is rock solid with no wiggle in any direction. Deployment is fast and confident every single time. This one’s a keeper for sure. Made in the USA right in Memphis, and it shipped worldwide without any long wait.

Everyone who’s seen this pocket knife has asked where I got it. Opens smooth every time with just a flick of the thumb. This is my new favorite in the collection.

Not worth the money in my opinion. Clip snapped off within the first week. Blade wobbles side to side even after tightening the pivot. Would not recommend based on my experience.

Couldn’t ask for a better pocket knife honestly. Love that this comes out of Memphis and still ships worldwide this quickly. Fits great in the pocket without feeling bulky. Scales feel great in hand and don’t feel slippery at all. Will definitely order again for another one.
