Description
Chrome Wrangler is the bright one in the string. Its D2 tool steel blade is taken all the way to a high mirror polish, so the whole flat of the sheepsfoot throws back the barn light like still water, while the olive burl handle underneath keeps it warm and unmistakably western. It is a working cowboy bull cutter first and a good-looking knife second — but it is very good looking.
The square, blunt-nosed sheepsfoot profile gives you a full 3.5 inches of usable edge with no point to catch, and the notched choil lets you choke right up to the blade for close, controlled cuts. D2 is a high-carbon, high-chromium tool steel that holds an edge far longer than the stainless most ranch knives are made from.

Built for: livestock and ranch work, cutting twine, hide and feed sacks, camp cooking, hunting chores and everyday belt carry. The mirror finish and figured burl also make it a strong groomsman, retirement or western wedding gift.
Care: D2 is a semi-stainless tool steel — it resists rust far better than carbon steel but it is not fully stainless. Wipe the blade dry after use and keep a light film of oil on the mirror polish, which will show fingerprints and water spots more readily than a satin finish. Clean the olive burl with a damp cloth and wax it two or three times a year. Do not store the knife in the leather sheath long term, and keep it out of the dishwasher.
FAQs
What makes a bull cutter different from a regular hunting knife?
The nose. A bull cutter has a square, blunt sheepsfoot tip instead of a point, so you can bear down against hide, rope or a feed sack without the tip diving where you do not want it. Cattlemen carried the shape for livestock work; it turns out to be one of the safest and most useful all-round belt knife shapes ever made.
How good is D2 steel for a working knife?
Very good. D2 runs around 58–60 HRC and holds a working edge considerably longer than 440C or similar stainless. The trade-off is that it takes a little more effort to re-sharpen and needs to be kept dry and lightly oiled.
Will my knife look exactly like the photograph?
The shape, dimensions, steel and finish will match. The handle will not — olive burl is a natural wood and every set of scales has its own grain, figure and colour, so your Chrome Wrangler will be one of a kind.
Is the leather sheath included?
Yes. A handmade leather belt sheath with a snap stud closure is fitted to every knife and ships with it at no extra cost.
Does the mirror polish scratch?
A high mirror polish will pick up fine hairline marks with hard use, the same as any polished blade. Those marks are part of a working knife’s life; the polish can be brought back with metal polish and a soft cloth.
