Description
Amber Drover takes its name from the honey-and-tiger figure locked inside its olive burl scales — the same warm amber a drover sees when the low sun runs along a fence line at the end of a working day. It is a true cowboy bull cutter: a short, deep, square-nosed sheepsfoot blade that gives you a full cutting edge with no point to snag, forged in hand-layered Damascus and set behind a mirror-polished stainless bolster.
The blade carries a tight, flowing Damascus pattern that runs the length of the flat and a notched choil that lets you choke up for close, controlled work. Because every billet is folded and etched by hand, no two blades come out of the shop with the same pattern.

Built for: ranch and stockyard work, castrating and trimming, cutting twine and feed sacks, camp and kitchen chores, and everyday belt carry for anyone who wants a knife that cuts rather than pokes. It is equally at home as a display piece or a groomsman gift for a western wedding.
Care: Damascus steel is a high-carbon material and will spot or patina if left wet. Wipe the blade dry after every use and put a light film of mineral or camellia oil on it before storage. Olive burl is a natural wood — wipe it clean and rub in a little wood wax two or three times a year. Do not store the knife inside the leather sheath for long periods, and never put it in a dishwasher.
FAQs
What is a cowboy bull cutter used for?
It is a ranch hand’s utility knife. The blunt, square sheepsfoot nose lets you make deep, safe cuts against hide, rope and feed sacks without the risk of a point going where it should not. Cattlemen have carried the pattern for generations for livestock work, and it has since become one of the most useful all-round belt knives you can own.
Will my knife look exactly like the photograph?
No, and that is the point. Olive burl is a natural wood and hand-forged Damascus is etched one billet at a time, so grain, figure, colour and pattern vary from piece to piece. Your Amber Drover will share the same shape, dimensions and build, but the character of the wood and steel will be its own.
Is the leather sheath included?
Yes. Every Amber Drover ships with the handmade leather belt sheath shown, fitted to this knife and closed with a snap stud.
Is the blade full tang?
Yes. The Damascus runs the full length of the handle with black fiber liners between the tang and the olive burl scales, pinned with stainless pins and a mosaic pin inlay.
How sharp does it arrive?
Shaving sharp. Each blade is hand-sharpened and stropped before it is boxed.
