Description
Buckhorn Twist puts the two most character-heavy materials we work with on the same knife. The blade is twist-pattern Damascus — the billet is drawn out, twisted and forged flat so the layers come to the surface as tight rings and eyes down the whole flat — and the handle is genuine stag antler, left with its natural bark and colour. Between them sits a brass bolster with a thin red fiber line, and the same red fiber runs between the tang and the scales.
The shape underneath all that is a straightforward working cowboy bull cutter: a deep, square-nosed sheepsfoot with a full 3.5 inch straight edge, no point to snag, and a notched choil for choking up close.

Built for: ranch and stock work, hunting camp, cutting twine, hide and feed sacks, and everyday belt carry — and, honestly, for handing to someone. Twist Damascus and stag is the combination people buy as a retirement, anniversary or milestone-birthday gift.
Care: Damascus is a high-carbon steel and will spot or patina if it is put away wet. Wipe the blade dry after every use and keep a light film of mineral or camellia oil on it — this also keeps the etched pattern crisp. Stag antler is a natural material: keep it out of prolonged direct sun and standing water, wipe it rather than soaking it, and rub in a little mineral oil once or twice a year. Do not store the knife inside the leather sheath long term.
FAQs
What is twist Damascus?
The smith forge-welds a stack of alternating steels, draws the billet out into a bar, twists it along its length, then forges it flat again. When the finished blade is etched, the twisted layers surface as tight concentric rings and eyes rather than the flowing lines of a standard pattern. It is more work than plain Damascus, and every blade comes out different.
Where does the stag antler come from?
Antler is naturally shed each year and is collected rather than taken from the animal. It is an ethical by-product, and it is the reason each handle has its own colour, texture and crown.
Will my knife look exactly like the photograph?
No. Stag antler varies from pale cream to deep amber, with its own bark texture and shape, and every twist Damascus blade etches into a different pattern. Your Buckhorn Twist will share the shape, dimensions and build shown, but no two are alike.
Is stag comfortable to hold?
Yes — the natural texture of antler gives a very secure grip, wet or dry, and it warms in the hand faster than metal or bone. It is one of the oldest handle materials there is for exactly that reason.
Is the leather sheath included?
Yes. The tooled leather belt sheath shown ships with the knife at no extra cost. It is stamped by hand, so the tooling varies slightly.
