Carry it for: the small daily jobs a pocket knife is genuinely for. Boxes, tape, string, blister packs, an apple at your desk. It is not a defensive tool and it is not a work knife, and buying it as either will disappoint you.

Small blade, real limits

A short edge like this one clears the legal limit in far more places than a four inch blade does, and it is polite enough to bring out at a table without anyone shifting in their seat. It is also short enough that a large box takes several passes, and the closed handle is longer than the blade, which some owners never quite get used to. Check what applies where you live using our state-by-state pocket knife laws before you commit.

Bolsters do more than decorate

The patterned steel at the pivot end is structural. It carries the pivot load and stops the scales flexing when the blade is under a twisting cut, which is where cheap folders develop lateral play. The mosaic pin in the scale is purely cosmetic, and it is set flush so that it never presses into your palm during a long cut.

Five ounces in a pocket

Five ounces is more than most modern folders of this size, because the liners and bolsters are steel rather than titanium or plastic. You will feel it in a shirt pocket and not notice it on a belt or in jeans. The weight buys durability, and it is a fair trade unless you count grams. For a wider look at choosing a carry knife, our EDC knife selection guide lays out the questions worth asking. If you want a fixed blade with no moving parts at all, the Ironfist Damascus push dagger is the opposite answer.

Routine: folders collect lint and grit in the pivot, and grit is what kills a smooth action. Flush the pivot with hot water every month or so, blow it dry, and put one drop of light oil on the pivot only. Oil the blade itself separately, because this steel is high-carbon and will spot. Do not over-tighten the pivot screw trying to remove play; the fix is usually cleaning, not torque.

FAQs

What lock does it use? A liner lock, released with your thumb from the show side.

Is the clip reversible? It is mounted for tip-down carry on one side and is not drilled for a swap.

Will it come sharp? Yes. It leaves here cutting paper cleanly.
