Hold BMK-578 under a lamp and the blade stops being grey. Fine wavy bands run its whole length and gather into tight swirls where the steel widens toward the tang. It is a quiet Damascus, easy to miss in a thumbnail and impossible to miss in the hand.

Carry it if: you like restraint. Plenty of Damascus balisongs are etched deep and dark so the figure shouts across a room. This one has been finished bright, which flattens the contrast and leaves a pattern you have to lean in to read.
