The Silver-spotted is one of three butterflies on this bench, the Adonis and the Hairstreak being the other two, and like the skipper it borrows its name from it is built light for its size. What arrives is a full-size Filipino balisong with a satin-finished clip point, a swage running back from the tip along the spine, and a pair of channel handles drilled straight through in a repeating rhythm of wide and narrow ports.

Handles you can see daylight through

Those ports are not ornament alone. Every hole taken out of a steel channel removes mass from the far end of the arc, and the further from the pivot that metal disappears, the more the balance walks back toward your hand. The knife then starts a rotation early and parks where you put it, which is the reason ported handles became standard on balisongs meant to be worked rather than shelved. Run a thumb around the inside of a port and you will find the edge broken by hand.
