The case for a long, light blade
Most knives this length weigh a good deal more. Keeping it at nine ounces means the balance sits near your hand instead of out at the tip, and the practical effect is that long cuts stay straight without effort. You get more edge in contact with what you are cutting, so you make fewer passes. The cost is chopping ability. There is not enough mass here to drive through wood, and swinging a thin blade at a branch is a good way to bend it.
Where it disappoints
