The Akuma is a sculpted piece rather than a plain band. The face of an oni is worked in the round across the front of the ring, with a pair of swept horns rising off the brow, a mane of overlapping scale detail running back into the shank, bared fangs, and small red stones set into the eyes. The recesses are darkened and the high points are brought up bright, so the whole thing reads clearly from arm’s length instead of dissolving into texture the way cast novelty jewellery usually does.

Confirm your size before you order
This listing carries no size selector, and a hardened steel ring cannot be opened up or taken in the way a gold one can. There is no way to cut, stretch and re-solder steel at this hardness without wrecking both the surface and the temper that was put into it. Message us with your size before you place the order. Measure at the end of the day when your fingers are at their largest, and measure across the knuckle you have to pull the ring over, not the base of the finger where it will eventually sit.
Hardness cuts both ways
Hardened steel resists scratching far better than precious metal does, so this will not pick up the scuffed halo that a soft gold band collects during its first year of daily wear. Deep carving stays crisp for decades because nothing in ordinary life is hard enough to round the edges off it. The other side of that bargain is real, though: hard things do not deform, they crack. Treat a heavy impact as a genuine risk rather than a cosmetic one, and take the ring off before lifting or before manual work.
Steel against skin
Sweat is salty, and a ring worn through a hot day and then dropped in a dish unrinsed can start a fine haze of surface oxidation long before it starts anything you would call a patina. The fix takes about thirty seconds. Give it a rinse and a towel whenever you wash up, take it off before a shower or a swim, and give the carving an occasional wipe with a little oil on a cloth so the darkened recesses stay dark. What corrosion actually does to forged steel applies to something worn on a finger in exactly the way it applies to a blade, and the reasoning is worth reading once.
Made at the bench, not in a mould
Every Akuma is cut and chased by hand, which is why the expression differs a little from one ring to the next. Two of them set side by side will share the same snarl and the same horn geometry, and they will not share every last scale along the jaw. That is the honest consequence of a person holding the graver rather than a machine repeating a program, and it is worth knowing before you compare yours to the photograph on this page.
