Made for: anyone who wants a genuinely small carry knife with some heft to it. Two inches of edge handles cord, tape, food and field dressing on small game. It is not a survival tool and does not pretend to be one.
Why brass changes how it carries
Brass is heavy for its size. On a knife this short that is the whole point: the weight sits back in your palm and the little blade stops feeling like a toy. It also means the knife rides noticeably in a shirt pocket, so most owners hang it round the neck or clip the sheath inside a waistband. Brass tarnishes. It will go from bright gold to a dull amber over a few months, and if you like that you leave it alone. If you do not, a cloth and a dab of metal polish brings it back in a minute.
The blade finish is deliberate
The dark surface is forge scale left on the flats rather than ground away, which is why the texture varies down the length. It hides fingerprints and it hides the beginning of rust equally well, so this steel wants attention rather than trust. High carbon steel takes a keener edge than stainless and gets there faster on a stone, but it will spot if you sheath it damp. Dry it before it goes away. If you find orange freckles later, the rust removal guide covers what actually works on a forged finish.
Honest limits
The handle has no finger guard. Push hard into something that gives suddenly and your hand can slide forward onto the edge, so this is a slicing knife rather than a stabbing one. For choosing between this and a larger everyday carry, read how to choose an EDC knife. If two inches is simply too little blade, the lamb horn carbon steel knife gives you a full sized grip and a real belly.
Before you order
Does the sheath fit a belt? It is drilled for a thong and sized for neck or pocket carry. A narrow belt will pass through at a push.
Is the handle solid brass or plated? Solid. Plating would wear through at the corners within a season.
How sharp is a two inch edge, really? Short edges concentrate force, so this cuts cord and hide more easily than its size suggests. What it cannot do is a long draw cut in one pass.
