Description
Tiger micarta is what happens when you laminate alternating layers of orange and brown canvas and then grind through them at an angle — the stripes come out different on every single handle, and you do not know what you have until the shaping is finished. Tiger Amber pairs that against a hand mirror-polished D2 blade and plain stainless screws, because the handle is doing quite enough talking already.

Built for: the tracker profile does four jobs on one blade — chop and skin on the forward belly, carve feather sticks on the straight section behind it, notch wood and throw sparks off a ferro rod with the sawback spine. Quarter-inch D2 takes batoning in its stride. And there is a practical argument for a bright handle on a working knife: an orange-striped grip is a great deal easier to find in leaf litter than a black one.
On tiger micarta: the stripe pattern is unique to each handle — the angle of the grind through the laminate decides it. Yours will not match the photograph exactly.
Care: the micarta needs soap and water and nothing more, and the colour will not fade. D2 is semi-stainless — dry the blade after use and give it a light coat of mineral oil monthly. Clean the mirror with a microfibre cloth; abrasive pads will turn it satin in seconds. Store the knife outside the leather sheath.
FAQs
What is tiger micarta? Micarta is fabric laminated with resin under heat and pressure. Tiger micarta alternates two colours of canvas in the stack, so grinding the handle to shape exposes the layers as stripes. It is as tough as any other micarta — the colour is structural, not a coating, so it cannot chip or wear off.
What is a Tom Brown style tracker knife? The multi-purpose survival profile popularised by tracker and survival instructor Tom Brown Jr. — a deep chopping belly forward, a straight utility section behind it, and a sawback spine, all on one thick blade. This is our handmade interpretation, not a licensed original.
Will the orange fade in sunlight? No. The pigment is in the canvas, sealed inside cured resin. It will not fade, and it will not stain.
What’s included? The knife, its black leather tracker sheath, and a gift-ready box.
