Description

Sunspike is the display piece of the range. Stabilised maple burl in deep honey amber, all curl and eye, capped with a polished stainless bolster and set with a single mosaic pin — and behind it a hand-forged Damascus spear point with the ricasso worked by file.

It is still built as a working knife: double-edged with a centre fuller, full tang through the T-grip, and both edges sharpened by hand. The grip crosses the palm so the blade is driven by the arm, not the wrist.

Overall Length 7 inches
Blade Length 4 inches
Handle Width 3.5 inches (T-grip)
Blade Steel Hand-forged Damascus, acid etched
Blade Finish Acid etched Damascus with fileworked ricasso
Blade Style Double-edged spear point, centre fuller
Handle Material Stabilised maple burl
Bolster Polished stainless steel

Sheath Handmade dark brown leather sheath with brass stud and belt loop (included)

Built for: collectors and display first, lawful carry second. This is the one people buy as a milestone or retirement piece. Read the legality note below before ordering.

Care: Damascus is a high-carbon steel and will spot or patina if it is put away wet. Wipe both edges dry after every use and keep a light film of mineral or camellia oil on the blade, which also keeps the etched pattern crisp. Stabilised burl is resin-impregnated and far more stable than raw wood, but it is still wood: wipe it clean and wax it once or twice a year. Do not store the knife inside the leather sheath for long periods.

FAQs

What is a push dagger?
A short double-edged blade set at ninety degrees to a T-shaped handle. The grip sits across your palm with the blade between your middle and ring fingers, so the force comes from the whole arm rather than the wrist. It is the most secure way there is to hold a small blade — it cannot twist or be pulled out of the hand.

⚠ Is a push dagger legal where I live?
Check before you order. Push daggers are restricted or prohibited in a number of US states and cities, and in many countries outside the US, more tightly than ordinary fixed blades. Laws vary and change. It is the buyer’s responsibility to confirm local law before purchase or carry.

Is the leather sheath included?
Yes. The dark brown leather sheath with a brass stud shown in the photograph is moulded to this blade. It ships with the knife at no extra cost.

How do I sharpen a double-edged blade?
Treat each edge separately, keeping the same angle on both sides of each bevel, and work from the ricasso to the point in short sections. A small stone or ceramic rod is easier than a full bench stone on a blade this size.

Can I actually use a Damascus blade, or is it for show?
Use it. The pattern comes from forge-welding different steels together; the finished blade is hardened, ground and sharpened like any other. It simply asks to be kept dry and lightly oiled.

Will my knife look exactly like the photograph?
No. Every Damascus billet is folded and etched by hand, so the pattern differs on every blade. Your knife will share the shape, dimensions and build shown, but the steel will be its own.

What is stabilised burl?
A burl is the knotted growth on a tree trunk where the grain has grown in on itself, giving swirling figure instead of straight lines. Stabilising forces resin through it under vacuum so it will not crack, swell or absorb moisture.
