Description
Royal Stag is the top of the line. Genuine stag antler, still carrying its own bark and colour, set behind a solid brass bolster against a hand-forged Damascus blade whose pattern rolls the full length of the flat. It is the knife a hunter buys once and hands down.
It is not a display piece pretending to work. The blade is a 4.5 inch drop point with an integral gut hook, ground and polished inside the curve by hand, and antler is one of the most secure grip materials there is — its natural texture holds when your hands are wet or cold.

Built for: field dressing deer, elk and hog, trophy hunts, and display between seasons. The obvious choice for a retirement, anniversary or milestone gift to a hunter.
Care: Damascus is a high-carbon steel and will spot or patina if it is put away wet. Wipe the blade dry after every use — especially inside the hook — and keep a light film of mineral or camellia oil on it, which also keeps the etched pattern crisp. Stag antler is a natural material: keep it out of prolonged direct sun and standing water, wipe it rather than soaking it, and rub in a little mineral oil once or twice a year. The brass will darken to a warm patina; polish it if you prefer it bright. Do not store the knife inside the leather sheath for long periods, and keep it out of the dishwasher.
FAQs
What is a gut hook knife used for?
Field dressing game. The sharpened hook slips under the hide and unzips the belly in one controlled pull, so the point never dips into the stomach or intestines. Cleaner meat, faster work, and it removes the single riskiest cut of the whole job.
How do you sharpen a gut hook?
Not on a bench stone — a flat stone cannot reach inside the curve. Use a small round file, a fine ceramic rod or a tapered sharpener that fits the hook, and work from the inside outward. The main edge sharpens normally.
Is the leather sheath included?
Yes. The tan leather belt sheath with a snap stud shown in the photograph is fitted to this knife. It ships with the knife at no extra cost.
Can I actually use a Damascus knife, or is it for show?
Use it. The pattern comes from forge-welding different steels together; the finished blade is hardened, ground and sharpened like any other working knife. It simply asks to be kept dry and lightly oiled.
Where does the stag antler come from?
Antler is shed naturally every year and collected from the ground — it is not taken from the animal. It is an ethical by-product, and it is why every handle has its own colour, texture and crown.
Will my knife look exactly like the photograph?
No. Stag antler varies from pale cream to deep amber with its own bark and shape, and every Damascus billet etches differently. Your Royal Stag will share the shape, dimensions and build shown, but it will be a one-off.
