Description
Coyote Ripple puts a hand-forged Damascus blade on a handle built for weather. The etched pattern runs the whole flat in tight overlapping waves, and the scales are coyote tan canvas Micarta — the material that does not care about blood, rain or a week in a pack.
The blade is a 4.5 inch drop point with an integral gut hook and jimping cut into the spine for thumb purchase. The hook is ground and polished inside the curve by hand so it pulls clean through hide in one stroke.

Built for: field dressing deer, elk and hog in any weather, backcountry hunting, and hard belt carry. Damascus over Micarta is the combination for a hunter who wants something handsome that he will still take out in the rain.
Care: Damascus is a high-carbon steel and will spot or patina if it is put away wet. Wipe the blade dry after every use — especially inside the hook — and keep a light film of mineral or camellia oil on it, which also keeps the etched pattern crisp. Micarta needs almost nothing — soap and water and it is done. Do not store the knife inside the leather sheath for long periods, and keep it out of the dishwasher.
FAQs
What is a gut hook knife used for?
Field dressing game. The sharpened hook slips under the hide and unzips the belly in one controlled pull, so the point never dips into the stomach or intestines. Cleaner meat, faster work, and it removes the single riskiest cut of the whole job.
How do you sharpen a gut hook?
Not on a bench stone — a flat stone cannot reach inside the curve. Use a small round file, a fine ceramic rod or a tapered sharpener that fits the hook, and work from the inside outward. The main edge sharpens normally.
Is the leather sheath included?
Yes. The tan leather belt sheath with a snap stud shown in the photograph is fitted to this knife. It ships with the knife at no extra cost.
Can I actually use a Damascus knife, or is it for show?
Use it. The pattern comes from forge-welding different steels together; the finished blade is hardened, ground and sharpened like any other working knife. It simply asks to be kept dry and lightly oiled.
How tough is Micarta?
Extremely. Micarta is layered canvas set in resin: it will not swell, crack, warp or rot, it shrugs off blood, water, oil and solvents, and its texture grips better when wet — exactly what you want on a knife used for field dressing.
Will my knife look exactly like the photograph?
No. Every Damascus billet is folded and etched by hand, so the pattern is different on every blade. Your knife will share the shape, dimensions and build shown, but the steel will be its own.
