Description

Forgepoint is the plain working push dagger and the least expensive knife in the range. High carbon steel left in a forged matte grey with the mottling still on it, a rosewood T-grip on brass pins, and nothing else. No polish to protect, no bolster to keep bright.

Double-edged with a centre fuller, both edges sharpened by hand. High carbon takes a keener edge than stainless and can be brought straight back on a pocket stone.

Blade Steel High carbon steel
Blade Finish Forged matte grey with mottled texture
Blade Style Double-edged spear point, centre fuller

Built for: lawful everyday carry where the pattern is permitted, and anyone who would rather have an honest knife than a pretty one. Read the legality note below before ordering.

Care: High carbon steel is not stainless and will rust if it is put away wet. Wipe both edges dry after every use and keep a light film of mineral or camellia oil on the blade. The forged finish is a protective oxide layer — leave it be; the bright edges are what need oil. Wipe the wood clean with a damp cloth and rub in a little wood wax or oil two or three times a year so it does not dry out. The brass will darken to a warm patina over time; polish it if you prefer it bright. Do not store the knife inside the leather sheath for long periods.

FAQs

What is a push dagger?
A short double-edged blade set at ninety degrees to a T-shaped handle. The grip sits across your palm with the blade between your middle and ring fingers, so the force comes from the whole arm rather than the wrist. It is the most secure way there is to hold a small blade — it cannot twist or be pulled out of the hand.

⚠ Is a push dagger legal where I live?
Check before you order. Push daggers are restricted or prohibited in a number of US states and cities, and in many countries outside the US, more tightly than ordinary fixed blades. Laws vary and change. It is the buyer’s responsibility to confirm local law before purchase or carry.

Is the leather sheath included?
Yes. The deep oxblood leather sheath with a brass stud shown in the photograph is moulded to this blade. It ships with the knife at no extra cost.

How do I sharpen a double-edged blade?
Treat each edge separately, keeping the same angle on both sides of each bevel, and work from the ricasso to the point in short sections. A small stone or ceramic rod is easier than a full bench stone on a blade this size.

Why high carbon steel rather than stainless?
It takes a keener edge and is far easier to bring back on a simple stone. The trade-off is rust: it has to be wiped dry and lightly oiled. This is the steel working blades were made from long before stainless existed.

Is rosewood a good handle material?
Excellent. Rosewood is dense and naturally oily, so it is stable, hard wearing and resists moisture better than most timbers. Every handle has its own grain and colour, so yours will not be identical to the photograph.
