Who it suits: anyone who grew up with a stockman in a pocket and wants a better one. It is a working folder first: long clip point blade, saw, dressing hook, short blade, and a corkscrew, all off a single spine.
Care: Wipe it dry after use and never put it away damp. A drop of light oil in each pivot once in a while keeps the action smooth. Horn does not like heat, so keep it out of a hot car and off a radiator.
FAQs
Will the horn crack? Not in normal use. Horn is stable when it is kept out of extreme heat and dry air. Do not leave it on a dashboard in summer. Horn carries its own moisture content and it stays stable as long as that does not swing hard in either direction.
How long is it open? 8.3 inches with the main blade extended, from 4 inches of blade and 4.3 inches of handle.
Can I have it engraved? Yes. Add laser engraving at checkout and we cut it here in Memphis before the knife is boxed.
What bull horn brings
Horn is a natural material, so the color runs from near black through streaked amber and no two sets of scales match. It has a slight give that polished synthetics do not, which means it absorbs a little shock instead of passing all of it into your palm. It warms to your hand in seconds. The brass pins and liner give it the contrast you can see against the dark scales.
A frame with five tools
Each tool is backed by its own spring, so opening one does not disturb the others. The main blade carries the length. The saw is set for green wood. The hook is sharpened on the inner curve for dressing. The short blade handles the small stuff, and the corkscrew is fully formed rather than a token bend of wire. Storage and the long term
A multi-blade folder collects lint and grit faster than a single-blade knife because it has more places for both to hide. Blow the joints out, dry them, and re-oil. Check the springs once a year by opening each tool halfway and letting it walk closed under its own tension. A spring that has weakened feels lazy long before it fails, and it is a simple thing to put right at that stage. Keep it out of the leather between trips for the reasons set out in how to store knives.
