Description
A 2.2-inch blade on a four-inch handle. Most folders do the opposite. What that ratio gives you is a small cutter you can hold properly, with a full grip and no fingers hanging off the end, and it is why this one has stayed in the catalog while flashier models came and went.

Day to day: the everyday cuts. Tape, twine, blister packs, a loose thread, an apple. Six and two-tenths inches open and 3.8 ounces closed puts it at the comfortable end of pocket carry: heavy enough to feel like a real knife, light enough to forget. The short blade also means less of it to dry and less of it to sharpen.
Short blade, long handle
A 2.2-inch edge does not reach far, and that is the point. You get precision. Peeling, whittling, opening a seam without cutting what is under it, all the jobs where a longer blade fights you. The four-inch handle gives you leverage most knives this size lack, so you can push hard through cardboard without the scales digging into your palm. What you cannot do is slice anything wide. A tomato takes two passes. Rope thicker than your thumb is a chore.
Who this suits
People who carry a knife every day and use it for small things. People with smaller hands, who will find a four-inch grip generous rather than cramped, and our guide to knives for smaller hands goes into fit properly. It suits anyone who wants a Damascus pattern in something they will actually use rather than display. It does not suit hunters, campers, or anyone after one knife to cover heavy work. If you want a folder with real cutting length, the Dugite carries a 3.2-inch blade at five ounces.
Rust control: a folder that lives in a pocket meets sweat, and sweat is salt. That is harder on this steel than rain. Wipe the blade before you fold it. Every few weeks, open the knife fully, run warm water through the pivot, dry it, and put a single drop of light oil in the joint. If a faint gray haze appears on the flats, leave it, because that is patina and it slows further corrosion. If orange appears, take it off the same day with oil and a soft cloth. Store it outside the sheath, in a drawer. Our EDC selection guide covers the daily-carry trade-offs in full.
Common questions
What is the handle material? The specification table for this listing does not record one. We will not put a material name in writing that we have not verified against the piece in stock, so ask and we will check it for you.
Is it a lockback or a liner lock? Not stated in our table either, and the same answer applies: ask and we will confirm before it ships.
Is 2.2 inches too short to be useful? For most pocket tasks, no. For food prep or anything outdoors, yes.

I know zero about knives but I wanted to get one for my boyfriend who knows about what it takes to make a great knife. After reading the reviews and googling I went for it. He was amazed by the quality of the blade, handle and even the leather case. I think he was more amazed I picked it out!
