Everyday use: opening things, cutting cord, food on a tailgate. The blade runs almost straight to a blunted, rounded nose, which is a shape built for control rather than for piercing.
The blade shape does one job well
A straight edge with a dropped, rounded tip is the sheepsfoot family, and it exists because a straight edge cuts cleanly against a flat surface with no rocking, and because a blunt nose does not put a hole in whatever is behind what you are cutting. Boxes, rope, cardboard, a length of twine on a stump: all easy. Piercing, drilling and detail tip work: not what it is for. If you need a point, you need a different profile.
Hand-forged high-carbon, and the patina question
Forged carbon steel takes a keener edge than most stainless and comes back to sharp with less work, which is the entire reason people still choose it. It also reacts. Cut an apple and leave the juice on it and you will see grey the next day. That layer is patina, it is stable oxide rather than rust, and it slows further corrosion down. Rosewood scales over time
Rosewood is oily and dense, which is why it survives a pocket. It will darken where your thumb and forefinger land and lighten nowhere, so after a couple of years the wear pattern is a record of how you hold it. Nothing needs doing to it. If the surface ever looks dry, rub in a drop of any food-safe oil.
Pocket routine: A carbon-steel folder wants two habits: wipe the blade before you close it, and get the pivot clean every few months. Lint and grit do more damage to the action than anything else. One drop of light oil at the pivot, worked open and shut, restores a stiff hinge. Before a long spell in a drawer, oil the blade properly. Do not put it in a dishwasher, which will strip the wood and flash-rust the steel.
EDC questions
Is there a pocket clip? No. It rides loose in a pocket or in the leather sheath it ships with. If a clip is a requirement, this is not the knife.
What is the tradeoff against stainless? Easier to sharpen, harder to ignore. Something like the Bumble Bee titanium pocket knife asks less maintenance for the same pocket space.
