Fits the buyer who: wants a butterfly knife that looks aged rather than new. Bright steel channels frame the bone, and the contrast between clean polished metal and something visibly worked over by fire is the whole design. Seven ounces of it, with a 5.5 inch Damascus blade on a 5.9 inch handle.
Reading the blade
Concentric raindrop figure with copper-toned pins set along the spine, and a long swept belly that rises to a fine point. The billet is 1095 folded against 15N20, a 352-layer billet heat treated into the 58–60 HRC band and oil tempered. The etch here sits at a middle depth, dark enough to show the rings clearly under room light without going to the near-black contrast some collectors dislike.
Why bone gets burned
Heat drives moisture out of the surface and darkens it unevenly, which is the point. It also hardens the outer layer slightly, so a burned insert scuffs less readily than a raw one. The trade is that heated bone becomes brittle if you cook it further, which is the single reason this knife should never live on a dashboard or beside a radiator. Every insert takes the flame differently, so the shading you receive will not match the photograph exactly.
Steel channels
Bare steel handles are colder in the hand than brass and noticeably harder. They ring rather than thud when the knife closes, they resist dents better, and they need the same rust discipline the blade does. If you practice for an hour the whole knife will be damp with sweat by the end, and all of it needs wiping, not just the edge.
Care. Dry the steel completely after every session, then oil the blade and the inside faces of the channels where sweat gathers unseen. Burned bone wants a dry cloth and nothing more; oil will soak into the porous scorched surface and leave a dark, tacky patch that is very hard to reverse. Keep the knife out of the sun and out of heat. If the pattern on the blade ever looks washed out, that is the etch wearing thin rather than the steel failing, and it can be brought back.

Will the burn marks rub off? No. The color goes into the bone rather than sitting on it.
