Description
A folding knife you can carry daily and sharpen on an ordinary stone: the King Snake in its compact size.
| Steel | VG10 stainless steel |
| Handle | G10 |
| Hardness | 58–60 HRC, oil tempered |
| Included | Hand-stitched leather sheath |
Best for: everyday carry. Opening boxes, cutting cord, trimming a frayed rope end, breaking down packaging. It is small enough that nobody looks twice when you take it out, and finished well enough that you would be annoyed to lose it.
What VG10 actually gives you
VG10 is a Japanese stainless with enough chromium to shrug off moisture and enough vanadium to hold a fine edge. In a pocket knife that combination counts for more than it does on a fixed blade, because a folder lives against your leg in a warm pocket and gets opened with damp hands. Run at 58 to 60 HRC it takes a very acute edge and keeps it through a working week. For the comparison against high carbon steels, how VG10 compares to carbon covers it.
The G10 handle
G10 is layered glass cloth set in resin. It will not swell, shrink, absorb sweat or stain, and it stays grippy when wet. For a knife that spends years in a pocket that is the sensible choice, since the handle should look the same in a decade as it does out of the box.
Care
Wipe the blade, keep the pivot clean, and that is the whole routine. There is no rust schedule here and no reason to oil the steel itself. What a folder does need, unlike a fixed blade, is an occasional flush of the pivot: pocket lint and grit are what make an action feel rough, not corrosion. Rinse it through, shake it dry, then put one drop of light oil in the joint. Cleaning a folding knife walks through it step by step.
Questions about this knife
Will it corrode in my pocket? No. Sweat is the usual culprit with carbon folders, and this steel handles it without complaint.
Is there a bigger version? Yes. The larger King Snake folder runs the same steel with more blade in front of it.
How do I sharpen it? Any stone or ceramic rod works. This alloy is harder than basic stainless, so give it a few more passes and keep the angle honest.
What is in the box? The knife and a leather sheath, stitched by hand.
Can I add engraving? Yes, chosen as an option before you check out.
Shipped from our Memphis workshop. Defects are covered for as long as you own it.
